Why Does God Allow Boo-Boos?

Some of you may recall a post I wrote earlier about Sienna falling off of her bike and what a typical boo-boo drama brings to our family. Sienna has been having a difficult time dealing with her new boo-boo. We can distract her from it most of the time but there are those moments when she obsesses about it. I think for a child on the spectrum, boo-boos can send a blip through the nervous system.

Sienna asked me this morning, "Momma, why does God give us boo-boos?"

I replied, "God doesn't give us boo-boos, but he allows us to have them so that we become stronger."

Anyone else have another answer? Please comment!

I still obsess about boo-boos as well and wonder why God gives us them too. So I think Sienna is not alone. I think your answer is a great one. Sometimes its a sign that we need to be more careful but sometimes there is no valid reason at all. Stuff just happens sometimes. So I really liked your answer that its a way for us to become stronger. So maybe she will see it in a positive light and eventually get back out there and try again without it affecting her confidence. Lovely post by the way.

That was a very good answer!

I used to remind my kids about all the "owies" Jesus took so that we wouldn't have to. I still have to remind them but, now that they're older, the language has changed a bit.

I often have to remind myself, too.

You go, Mom!

What a great answer. There is so much truth to it. We do have to hurt sometimes to gain strength.
